Ray Davies composed the music for this obscure 1971 film about a penis transplant. Starring Hywel Bennett, Elke Sommer and Britt Ekland, the film vanished without a trace (some would say deservedly so). Unfortunately The Kinks album tied to the movie fared not much better. A few of the songs became known through other collections and presentations, most notably "God's Children" and "The Way Love Used To Be." Numerous selections on the album were tied to various scenes in the film. There's an instrumental version of "Lola," a slow blues ("Completely"), some traveling music ("Running Around Town," itself a variation of the song "Animals In the Zoo," which is also included), a rave-up ("Whip Lady"), and the gorgeous "Helga." Several other great new Ray Davies songs--"Just Friends," "Dreams," and "Willesden Green"--make this a sadly overlooked gem.
