    A diamond in the rough

    This film is a delight to fans of Lionel Atwill, because it's one of the rare times he played a goodie, which in this case is actually a tragic character who starts off at the top but is betrayed by one of his business partners, ending up in the gutter as a beggar. Did I mention that he loses his legs in the process? Wonderful flick with great film transfer, although this truthfully isn't the best print that I've seen. There is one circulating on YouTube that is clearer and also has better sound, but this disc works in a pinch for the great price. And you can't beat that cover! (although truthfully the portrait of Atwill is actually from another film, Doctor X, but that's beside the point). Another great Alpha Video release for the shelf!
