Boat Maintenance works fine
My usage is for a boat and the ability for the DC Amps is wonderful. The reason of my purchase of this model is the DC Amps NOT just AC. The ability to check the amps being drawn when starting or checking the boats equipment is very helpful. It is NOT a replacement for a shunt/battery monitor on a boat but it does help in checking the draw on specific devices. The other features are nice but I haven't gotten full use to these. I am still using my other meters for those needs. Over time I am sure that this will support all of my usage for the boat maintenance. I am NOT on salt water so I cant speak for how long it will last in that environment but am hoping that it will stay functional for many years to come being stored at the lake. Most devices last only to find the batteries corroded. This is NOT a problem with the device or manufacture, just a dumb thing we do forgetting about batteries aging. My suggestion is to take the batteries out after the jobs are done. Be aware that some inverters on boats sense electrical drawn before providing current to the circuit. For these inverter/circuits, DO NOT rely on the meter to guarantee the circuit is safe. If you are checking an inverter circuit, plug in a lamp or something that will draw power and see if it turns on. The meter can then tell you the draw. It will NOT trigger the inverter to wake up and supply power. Be safe when you are checking your circuits on your inverters. Overall, I am happy with the meter and believe it will hold up for many years to come. It is a good buy for the price point and a good tool to have on board your boat and should be the same for an RV

Any One that knows how to use a meter would be very pleased with this meters performance...
Compared to a Fluke Amp Meter of same meter Ranges.... It has far more to offer... Non-Contact voltage sense... temperature probe... Capacitance setting and DC amps as well... Price compared this meter wins hands down... I wish it were Cat IV and IP 67... but for the average tech or savvy electronics person... a must for the home shop at this price...

Best Bang for the Buck
Southwire products are great values for the money. I've used Flukes and still have a few, even the 88. But they are generally 2-3 times more expensive and, for the most part, I reach for my Southwire. I also have their cable tester which is outstanding.

If you want to really measure in Milliamps, then due to the significant figure of digits, I doubt it will suffice. Find another product.
