THE GENIUS AT HIS PEAK
Ray Charles is a legend in the music business and this show is a good example of that. The songs are all perfectly performed and executed. The Raylettes are excellent in their function as background and harmony vocals. The musicians are total professionals who play to complement the songs. This show taped in Brazil for a tv audience is a must see for any fan who wants to see the man at work. This is live music as it should be played. Well paced and swinging. This is the original band and they really have a wonderful repertoire of brother Ray at his most creative. A must have for anyone interested in what is was like in the early days of the rock, soul, country and even latin flavored rythmns percolating in that era which influence everyone that came after. I highly recommend this concert ... Ray Charles is a legend in the music business and this show is a good example of that. The songs are all perfectly performed and executed. If you are a Ray Charles fan(and I have been since a child) this is a DVD you will not be able to live without! The band is 100% on point! The Raelettes sing there A@%es off! Ray is in top form and total control throughout! It's in B/W.(but HEY,you know how old this footage is? You were probably not born yet!) It even includes some of the commercials from back in the day. Rhino has really out done themselves on this package. This is Ray shining like the star he is. Everything is laid bare,all the way down to the recently painted brick walls on the set(you can see the bad masonry of the day if you look close @ the wall behind him.) The video footage is incredibly sharp for the era in which it was produced! I can't say enough about this DVD. All I can say is,if you like Ray ... Es un verdadero clásico de la música y uno de los mejores conciertoas para TV que dejara registrado Ray Charles. No recuerdo otra grabación en que Ray interprete tal cantidad de temas, además en uno de sus mejores momentos.
