Hard wax sticks seem much better than the soft ones if you can use them. Difficult to get an exact match but the ones I got were close enough that you cannot notice the repair on the wooden floor unless you look very closely. I melted the stick with a large soldering iron and dripped the wax into the deep dent I had in my floor, I made sure I overfilled the hole and then after a minute or so, trimmed the repair flush with a Stanley blade. Worked a treat.
