    It's difficult to go wrong with a memory upgrade.

    Assuming you have discovered what memory your machine uses and the maximum amount recommended, it's difficult to go wrong with a memory upgrade. Microsoft says you need a minimum of 1GB of memory and a 1GHz processor to run Windows 32 bit version and 2GB of memory for the 64 bit version. They don't say if the minimum recommended processor is a single core, dual core or higher. It has been my experience that these numbers need to be twice the recommended. The processor should be at least 2.8GHz Hipper Threaded for 32 bit and 2.6GHz dual core for 64 bit. If the memory is below my recommended you will experience what is called disk thrashing, where the OS is constantly reading and writing to disk to make more memory to service your request and you will wait for this to occur.     DDR3 Packaging

    Memory cards are very sensitive to ESD (electrostatic discharge) that can damage the chips on the card to cause intermittent or decrease its life.
