this is the third echo chainsaw I purchased and I am satisfied with all three. 50 cc have little more power than cs450 with 45 cc engine, but cs450 is still better than any other saws I tried. I also own a 18 inch echo with 40 cc which work great. it's better than stihl because you can download the parts manual from echo web site not like stihl. being able to down load parts manual is mandatory because I can order echo parts through the internet any time of the day. also, you can purchase echo through the internet. stihl saws on the internet is mostly used. you have to go to a stihl dealer for part numbers and purchase the saws. A Great Chainsaw, Made in Japan
Echo CS-490 was easy assembly and startup right out of the box. I was pleasantly surprised that the saw with a 50cc motor and 20-inch bar weighs same as my 14 yr old chainsaw with only 40cc motor and 18-inch bar. Only have used it cutting about a 12-inch x 10 ft tree trunck for firewood, but so far it worked great.

I cut and spit 6 cords of hardwood every year mostly oak the past 46 years I've had lots of chainsaws stihl husky and now echo and lots of sears poullans I wanted a saw that can handle this sort of volume and this Echo cs 490 is the perfect saw fora16 or 18 bar yes you can run a 20" but it rpms is more suited to a shorter bar. "Echo products have always made money for me"
I really like Echo products, but one thing concerned me with the "no primer bulb". I have read some disparaging reviews about it. Well, here is my experience after a week of working with the saw - It starts on the third pull every time, two pulls with the choke out and one pull with the choke in and you are running. By the way, it is strong and cuts through anything I throw at it.
