  • A good "keep in contact" phone

A good inexpensive phone to replace obsolete phones with our Go Phone service(see my Motorola C139 review). We wanted a flip-phone with brighter screen and larger number pads. And we got it. Also has a small outside screen for caller ID, time, battery level and signal strength. It is easy to use and compact. What I don't like about it is reception is not as good as our older phones. No dropped calls, just a little choppy sometimes. Incoming call ring is loud enough and several pre-installed rings to choose from. We like it as a convenient "keep in contact" phone. If you use a cell phone as your only phone or do a lot of talking, this may not be your best choice, though you may be completely satisfied.

  • Finally- a phone made ONLY for making phone calls

This phone is a great deal for the price if you are only interested in making and recieving phone calls. It's compact and somewhat stylish as well. If you're looking for additional features, this isn't your phone. Aside from text message, this phone is only made for talking. No mp3's, no webcam, no internet... basically none of that extra crap that you pay for with other phones and end up fiddling with only once every 6 months. The only negative thing I have to say about the phone is that you can't add multiple numbers per contact, so you have to add a new contact with a descriptive name indicating that it's a person's cellphone or work number or whatever.

  • Great for someone who just wants a phone. Outstanding price.

My wife and I are retirees. We don't Text. We don't film movies or snap pictures with our phones. All we use them for is to telephone one another or for long distance calling. This phone is perfect for this. Be careful, though. If you drop this phone often enough on hard concrete, the screen is likely to shatter. That's true of almost any phone, though, and my old fingers don't hold on to things as well as when I was younger, so this is my third one of this model. We've tried other brands (Nokia, Motorola, LG) and this is the best for the price. The tone is good, and loud enough that these old damaged ears can hear nicely. Keys are a bit small for old fingers, and it isn't 'feature-rich' but it works for someone who just wants a telephone. We use it as a "Go Phone" and pay $100 a year for ...

  • Nice phone for someone who just wants a phone.

I bought the SGH A117 to replace my full featured phone after it died on me. I was looking for a basic phone as that is what I want in a cell phone. My SIM card swapped with no problems, I am an AT&T customer, and the phone was immediately fully functional. It took me a while to get used to the features after my other phone, there are a few more steps to get to certain features but nothing insane. The reception is possibly better than my old phone as there are places with the old one that I would have to stand still or I would drop out but with this phone I have been able to move around with out any problems. The sound quality is very good also. The only drawback for me is the location of the volume control on the outside of the phone. I have more than once inadvertently turned the ...

  • A decent phone for temporary use.

It's a cheap phone, no bells or whistles, you get what you pay for. On the plus side, it has large type on screen and the keys light up for good contrast in case your your close-up vision isn't the best :-) Has the basics and it's easy to add contact information to. The ringtones sound tinny and the voice quality acceptable. I bought this as a temporary phone for my mom to use until she's eligible to get a new phone when her AT&T contract renews. This is a good phone to get for someone who is prone to losing or breaking phone.
