About this product

Product Information

From humble beginnings as a prehistoric tribe of hunters and gatherers, to a far-flung future of extra-terrestrial colonization, players lead their people to dominate Earth and beyond in this era-spanning game of empire-building. A true living legend of computer game design, Sid Meier invites strategists to conquer the world all over again, in this fourth edition in the influential Civilization series.

Many of the most significant additions to this version of Civilization involve customization. The tech tree remains the roadmap to scientific and industrial advancement, but there is now more than one path to milestone discoveries. The religion model offers more customization as well, and players can now better use the power of faith to spread their culture, or they can choose to have no state religion at all, boosting scientific endeavors.

Combat has been enhanced in Civ IV, to give more individuality to veteran units and to balance away occasional historical mismatches sometimes noticed in earlier editions of Civ. More than one leader character is available for many of the traditional opponent nations, and the game will play differently depending on who is in charge of rival empires. In all, Civilization IV is designed to offer players a game world of unprecedented sophistication and realism, whether they aim to win it through warfare or culture.

Late delivery- due to bad weather in the northeast- can’t throw off how excited I am to have gotten my hands on this beautiful pair of IEMs. Fair price, came brand new as described, highly recommended seller!

  • the1cheesy review: Civilization IV for MAC

I played a demo of Civilization IV and got hooked right away. There are a lot of details that make the game exciting, such as what kind of leader do you want to run your civilization (financial, industrious, religious, military, ect.) and what kind of technological advances do you want to choose to build your civilization foundation. There are a lot of things you have to take into consideration when playing which makes for a lot of strategic thinking. But after a while, the game loses it's luster. I play on a new 2GHZ Intel Core Duo IMAC and it runs great. But after you play for a while (esp. if it's a big map) and the gameplay starts to move faster, the game will run slower due to the other CPU civilizations. Sometimes the game just exited for no reason, it even happened when I just ...

  • Civ IV for the Mac

It's the same terrific game it was on the PC--detailed and delightful. The only problem is that I find it slightly harder to move around. It's mandatory to use the Go To function, since dragging out a path doesn't seem to work. I love the speed and fun of the game altho even with a brand-new iMac--I mean, literally 2 weeks old--it started to get black drop-out spaces around the cities after several hours of play. So, give the Mac a rest now and then, but definitely buy it!

  • GREAT GAME!

The Good * Intriguing new game play options plus even more-refined core gameplay * Great presentation with powerful new 3D engine and great new soundtrack * Much easier to fit into your schedule, but also offers many more strategic options * Leonard Nimoy * Warning: The highly addictive game play will make you lose sleep. The Bad * End games can sometimes still bog down, even though games are much faster to finish overall * Faster pace seems to de-emphasize historical context somewhat * Warning: The highly addictive game play will make you lose sleep. If you're a fan of the incredibly addictive Civilization strategy series and haven't bought Civilization IV yet, you can probably stop reading now to go buy the game. Civ IV makes plenty of great changes and additions to just about every ...

  • It's Civ

Great game, as are all the iterations. Bit of a learning curve. Some of the video drivers are a tad wonky with some older machines, but it's nothing g a save and restart won't fix when it happens.

  • On my 15 inch PowerBook G4, the first epic lasted 24 hr

I had an addiction to Alpha Centauri, this has some of the epic feel but more realistic opponents. Over four days, I played at least 24 hours of this game, in a scenario. If you like strategy and detail, this is a fine choice. Update to version 1.74 after install. I have OS X 10.411. A couple of sound issues, and probably maxing out the 32 MB video card, but I like it just the same.
