Jason Voorhees, whose trademark weapon is a machete and not a chainsaw, has one basic purpose- to kill teenagers. Which he does quite well. This box set chronicles his rise to infamy, his fall out of a barn, off a boat, and through windows aplenty. Think of it as 'Jason VH1 Behind The Killing'. This boxed set includes the three when Jason grows up, the two with Corey Feldman, the other one, the one with the psychic chick, and the Manhattan one which was really Toronto. It also includes extras, commentaries, and original thatrical advertisements. The cases are slimmer, so this DVD set doesn't take up too much room. The set also leaves out Jason going to Hell and Outer Space, as well as fighting Freddy. A great gift for the Jason fan.
I decided to buy the Friday the 13th box set because I am a lifetime fan of the series, and had hoped that Paramount and New Line could put together a definitive collection. This was a great attempt. The first eight movies in the series are included, and a bonus" Killer Extras" disc....the movies are in their original release, which was fine, but to do this set justice, the alternate or deleted footage should have been included. Several of the movies in this series have literal hours of extra footage that was never released. Some footage would have made the movies more gory, or scarier at points, and possibly given the set a new life. Rumor has it that there is another set coming, with uncut and previously unreleased material, so that will be a must have as well. The Killer Extras disc is phenomenal, and the big guying point of this set. Nicely decorated keeper box for the movies, wish they had used the original cover art on each movie, would have made a nicer set as well. Overall, I'd give this set a 7.5 out of a possible ten. Enjoy the movies, and when you're in the woods, avoid the 7' tall guy in a hockey mask.....Read full review
So i bought the unofficial blue ray with all of the movies on it but i felt i wanted more. Then I found this, great price excellent condition and i enjoy the actual quality of the cover art and DVDS much better. This is my main F13 collection now. I really like the bonus content.. that's really cool.

This is for the restoration quality of the films, for this new box set, and for the bonus features that are otherwise unavailable for any version of any one of these films. Since this is a review for those things, please see my review for each film individually, if that is indeed what you are expecting a review for. There's just not enough room to cover the bonus features and the movies. First of all, the digital restoration for both audio and video is very good. It's presented in new digital transfer with restored sound so you hear better, and hear more than you did before. The digital restoration has also given the ability to enhance colors, shadows and all around quality of the video portion of the film. They were very careful to leave the film close enough to their original presentations, yet enhance the films like never before. I am very pleased with the digital restoration of the films, HOWEVER, it could have been much better. The bonus features, pun intended, are to die for. This is the single most comprehensive collection of interviews, deleted scenes and history about one of the greatest Horror film series' of all time. There are exclusive, candid interview tith Tom Savini, Sean Cunningham, Amy Steel, Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Kane Hodder, Corey Feldman, Larry Zerner and pretty much everyone else involved in the making of these films. It's a really wonderful collection of new interviews that make up this multi-part documentary, and is my favorite thing about this DVD box set next to the actual films. It also has trailers, cast, crew and fans' collectibles from the film series, several deleted scenes, and even a featurette with Tom Savini and John Carl Buechler on the visual effects and the very gory special effects that revolutionized gore in film. The box set also comes in a compact 5 case set that has 2 films per DVD, and the 5th is all of the bonus features. Very conveniant!! All in all I give this DVD set 5/5 for all of the reasons above, and for the fact that it is the complete "Friday the 13th" franchise from the Paramount era. I highly recommend this for all Jason fans!!! If this review was helpful, insightful or informative, please rate it accordingly to help other eBay members see it. Check out my other reviews. My introduction to the Friday 13th franchise came quite late in the day and my initiation was at a Friday 13th all-noghter in Cardiff's ABC cinema upon the release of F13 pt V. I sat in the darkened theatre which incidentally was crammed to the rafters with like-minded souls and let the blood and gore wash over me for around 8 hours. Now let's be honest here, we're not talking about high art BUT when your watching a stalk and slasher you're there for the body count and F13 delivers by the bucket load. When I first saw the region 1 release I thought mmmmm, maybe if there's enough previously unseen content I could go for that, already owning the full set on single disc releases (including the appalling generally v to Jason X titles). I purchased a copy from the far East for my son's Chritmas present a year or so back and bought him (an myself) a copy of the "Crystal Camp Memories" book. A well-received seasonal gift. My son told me of all thge previously unseen extras, deleted scenes, making of's etc and I was a little jealous however I heard through the grapevine that the box set was going to AT LAST get a UK region 2 makeover...so I waited and ....I waited. Eventually 2008 saw the release of the similar looking BUT vanilla UK boxset and NO I did not go out and splash out my hard-earned..I immediately scoured thru Ebay to find a genuine Region 1 copy and within weeks it was in my grubby paws. With the imminent release of Blue Underground's "His Name Was Jason" I'll have all I need to satisfy my blood lust prior to 2009's re-imagining. I hope the franchise will get a well-earned kick-in-the-pants it so sorely needs and would heartily recommend the region 1 box-set to any gore hound. Ten out of Ten!Read full review

This is an amazing box set that is like a time capsule from the past, specifically the 80's. A time when horror was about big ugly guys killing attractive scantily clad women. This box set includes all of the Friday the 13th films released by Paramount, 1 through 8. For those of you who are familiar with these film, no doubt you already have this set! For those of you new to this series of films...ummm is anyone at this point really unfamiliar with the Friday the 13th franchise? Needless to say the movies are a mixed bag, from the groudbreaking special effects of the suspenseful original film, to the blatant false advertising of "the Final Chapter", these films epitomize the horror genre of the 80's. My personal favorites are 1,3,4,6,and 7. I guess 5 out of 8 isn't bad for a franchise that is about to be rebooted by Hollywood. So do yourself a favor, before Friday the 13th gets the "big budget,Hollywood" remake treatment ala "Halloween" get a hold of this box set and get cozy with Pamela and Jason Voorhees, and see where the legend of "Camp Blood" beganRead full review
