    One of my favourite books, not lightweight by any means.Good companion to my study of Bach being a musician (oboist)

    When I was studying 'philosophy of education' ,1987, this was a set text for the course towards my B.Ed, and Hofstadter's Metamagical Themas was also recommended. I have read Godel, Escher,Bach so many times that it was worn out! Now during my twilight years of retirement I wished to read it again and so purchased a new copy that I eventually will pass on. Can also recommend 'Evening in the Palace of Reason' by James Gaines, also available on eBay.

    A classic book

    Read it years ago and just bought it for a friend. A classic that is approachable, interesting and unusual. Unfortunately, advances in AI conflict with the book's conclusion, but still it is all pretty relevant.
