In diese Debatte mischen sich die Verfasser ein mit ihrem Pladoyer fur das selbstbestimmte Sterben, auch Thema ihrer Schrift Kann denn Sterben Sunde sein? , die 2014 erschienen ist. Dort haben sie die Befurworter und Gegner der Sterbehilfe unter die Lupe genommen und die Argumente des Pro und Kontra in eine verstandliche Information umgesetzt. Jetzt legen sie den Schwerpunkt auf die parlamentarische Auseinandersetzung um die Sterbehilfe, die fur sie Lebenshilfe ist. Dabei beleuchten die Autoren vor allem die Sicht der Parlamentarier und wagen einen Vorausblick auf den Ausgang der Beratungen des Gesetzgebers, der im Herbst 2015 ein neues Sterbehilferecht beschliessen will. Enttauscht stellen die Schreiber fest, dass die Abgeordneten gegen die erhoffte Freigabe der aktiven Sterbehilfe stimmen werden. Der Druck der Amtskirchen auf die Volksvertreter und die Pragung ihrer Lebens- und Weltanschauung durch christliche Werte verstellen den Blick auf humanistische Vorstellungen eines friedlichen schmerzfreien Todes. Eingezwangt ins religionspolitische Korsett befurworten die Mitglieder des Deutschen Bundestags zwar mehrheitlich einen verbesserten Pflegedienst und eine breite palliativmedizinische Versorgung, gehen aber nicht uber die Moeglichkeiten hinaus, die die Patientenverfugung dem Burger einraumt. Selbst die einfache und praktische Loesung eines von den Verfassern vorgeschlagenen Lebenshilfeausweises wird nicht aufgegriffen. Auch fallt den Schreibern auf, dass sich die Volksvertreter kaum an den Grundrechten orientieren, die dem Einzelnen das Recht gewahren, sein Leben und Sterben frei zu gestalten. Darin sehen die Autoren eine unbillige Bevormundung des Burgers und die Missachtung
