Being a grear fan of WW1 and WW2 films buying this film was a must. Its a good well made film certainly worth viewing and buying. Some great action sceens but some flaws in the story like the lack of security shown around the planes in WW1, otherwise a great film.
Perfect! Thank you 😊

Wanted to watch this on the big screen but missed the plane, so to speak. Here's the techy bit: The DVD was upscaled through a PS3 console for a 50" 1080p plasma set, audio processed with Dolby Digital using an active sub-woofer. Pre-conceptions were of a limited effects budget and a corny america-orientated storyline, one-up from "straight to tv" fodder. The reality was a very watchable film, endearing characters with a progressive screenplay supported by good quality cgi and live-action sequences. Someone did their homework on this movie and it shows. At the beginning I "briefed" my fellow audience on the realities of WWI aerial combat and as the film progressed these were given image right through to the final act. These were courageous men from harder times. The lioness mascot was borderline faux-license, but check the factual squadron photo shown at the end, she's there! This film on dvd is easy to recommended for tv viewing based on the strong storyline and great characters. With home cinema it's second to none, surpassing Aces High. There were plenty of copies on ebay, so go bag yourself some aerial combat and join the ranks in the flyboys mess. Cheers!Read full review
Flyboys: Based on a true story. The experiences of a group of American pilots who Fight for the French in WW1. The characters are well portrayed and developed. The dogfight sequences are extremely authentic, often breath-taking, and with the necessary CGI being of no evidence. Everything is real, natural, and totally plausible with no suspension of belief required - certainly NOT a 'Non-stop Action, Stunning Special Effects, No Story' production. This film will both delight and thrill you.
This is a very very very cheesy film! You have everything....the love interest...the bad guy (who you do actually hate by the end)....the token black dude.....the misunderstood veteran etc. Sorry if i've missed any categories out but thats the general gist. An easy watching movie for a sunday evening with some good action sequences and a plot you can follow without any thought involved. It's typically american in nature but don't let that stop you. Overall i'd say it was worth the £2 i paid for it and was better than half the rubbish in the cinemas at the moment!!
