The lithium battery can't be expected to last forever. It is a discontinued item by Garmin which is why is was being sold as a vintage electronic. We did state that testing only included powering up and verifying that it could contact satellites - also repeatedly said that we do NOT guarantee vintage electronics as we are not an electronics store. I'm sorry you were expecting a new item as 1/4 the cost of a new one.
