Fast shipping, great seller, packed perfectly and came with everything pictured. I loved seeing the original manual that came with such a vintage item, it added a lot of charm and authenticity to the purchase. The condition was exactly as described, and the attention to detail in packaging made sure it arrived safely. Really great value as well. Would absolutely buy from this seller again. Thanks so much, A++

  • Simple design, easy to use.

I bought this unit because I needed to fire an older flash unit with a high trigger voltage. My vintage Vivitar 283 flash has a trigger voltage of over 300V, which would fry a DSLR if attached to its hot shoe. Since this accessory was designed to work with flashes from that era, trigger voltage is not a concern. It is self-powered by a light sensitive cell which has an acceptance angle of about 180 degrees. A low trigger voltage flash (say, 24V or below) can be attached to the camera, or the built-in flash can be used. When the camera fires that flash, this slave sees it and fires the flash attached to it. It worked perfectly the first time I tried to use it. The time delay between the first flash going off and the slave triggering is about 1/1000 second. Keep your shutter speed at ...

  • Good remote for older flashes with high trigger voltages, like those from the 1960s or 1970s.

Even though this product was manufactured in the 1970s, a new or gently used one works very well with older flashes that cannot be used directly on today's digital cameras. I have used it on my Vivitar 292 and the SL-2 will trigger it with light from my Nikon SB-600 on top of my D5100 at a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second or less. It might work at higher speeds after some experimentation for proper positioning of sensor, ambient light levels, ambient light setting (high or low) on the SL-2, and the triggering light.
