After my 2nd time replacing the BATT5R battery pack in my radios, I went with discreet Energized NM-hi and then Duracell NM-hi. Both were disappointing. I e gone back to the OE BATT5R battery pack and am happier. It appears the 1.2v cell ratings of the discreet cells were impacting the overall voltage required, primarily during transmit loading when the battery capacity would suffer.

We bought these and attempted to use for Hurricane Irma and were let down. One was dead right away and the other died in the MIDDLE of the hurricane. NOT happy, and felt REALLY let down because we relied on our NOAA storm radio for the Hurricane (to tell us where it was, how the winds were, etc) This failure was a horrendous failure. Nothing like being trapped in a hot black box (no electricity, in boxed in house with hurricane shutters) IN SILENCE (except the ripping sounds of the winds trying to destroy everything) with a USELESS NOAA RADIO :(

This battery pack has less power output than a single AA battery. It is incapable of transmitting on high with the power supply. Instead the radio reads the battery as being low and changes the output power to low. I bought a pack of rechargeable AA batteries and it solved the problem immediately.
