bought this, as an upgrade to my Olympus SP-550UZ 7 point 1 MP They seemed to be aimed at the same market, but I did not pay close enough attention to the details. That I my fault, I just presumed, that this was basically the same camera, with more Megapixels, and few other major changes. I will give it credit, the exposure is good, the range of image sizes is really useful. The optical zoom is awesome. What I like also, is that it uses AA batteries, I hate expensive proprietary batteries. This camera, uses SD memory, whereas my old 550, uses XD memory, very hard to find at a decent price. What I wish was different: My old camera, has a viewfinder, this camera does not, only has the rear screen. The major drawback to this, is it is very difficult to see the screen in bright sunlight, making the composure difficult. The camera body, seems very cheaply built, unlike my 550. To be honest, if the battery / memory door has not been broken in a year, I will be very surprised. Another thing, is the location of the on / off power button. For shooting purposes, it is fine. However, when trying to open or close the battery / memory access door, frequently one accidently activates the camera, and the lens extends, getting ready for a shot. With time, I will develop the habit of holding the camera awkwardly. In the meantime, I am probably endangering the lens motor mechanism. The lens cap, is all but useless, it will not stay on the lens - how does a manufacturer not get that right? Where the 550 had nice dials, which made it easy to set to different modes, etc, this camera has difficult to navigate menus. I am sure that made sense to Olympus when cutting costs, but to anyone that does not use the camera very frequently, it makes using the camera difficult. Too much one needs to memorize. One thing that really bugs me about this, and most digital cameras . . . why is there no hot shoe for a flash, or any shoe at all? It would be one thing if the cameras had decently powerful flashes built in, but they pretty much stink! Bottom line, if you want a camera that takes excellent pictures, has many great features and very good optical zoom and a decent pixel count, at a reasonable price, this could be for you, as long as you do not mind that it is hard to learn to use and is cheaply made in terms of consumer concern..Read full review

Image stabilization is extremely poor. I use a Canon SX160 IS and it is far and away better at focusing on objects. I couldn't believe how poorly the Olympus Stylus SP-620UZ operated. It would take me 6-9 shots to get a focused picture...and yes, I adjusted image stabilization and tried other adjustments and read the manual. Of course, I'm sure this isn't news to Olympus. I won't purchase an Olympus again.

I have a olympus 570UZ and I am very satified with this camera this is the reason I bout this one for my wife, for me olympus and minolta are greit cameras,I like all the features, the size and weight, and for the money was and exelente purchase bout it for my wife for the quality olympus offer inevery piture
Poor quality. Every action shot blurry. No clear action shots possible regardless of setting. Changes lighting on its own for simple indoor portrait shot, regardless of setting, flash or no flash. On/off button very sensitive and can easily be turned on simply placing it in camera bag for storage or easily bumping while carrying w/strap, wasting battery usage. Lens cover constantly falls off. Purchase was to replace faulty Nikon D70s for simple business update photos plus adding the feature of video. Although I will go through manual again to make sure I have reviewed every directive for settings, wish I had waited to afford better quality camera.
This is a great camera. Produces pictures I can enter into contests that require higher pixels. A little bigger than my old one, and I had to get used to it, but that would happen with any new camera.
