I love Flight of the Conchords! No two people have ever made me laugh more in my entire life! This is definitely a great purchase, having an entire season of laughs at my hands at any given moment is wonderful!! I am not typically one to buy an entire season of any television show on DVD, regardless of how much I love the show, but I am so glad that I bought this one!! I would recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys a laugh! :)
Not being an HBO Subscriber, I was introduced to "Flight of the Conchords" via YouTube (and good friends)and decided to purchase a copy of the first season. I have not been disappointed! Though a scant 12 episodes comprise the first season, it is superbly written. The acting is also spot on, raising the simply ridiculous to the absolutely sublime ... and here is where the comedy lies: in the genuineness of the "band," their manager, and their "uber-fan" who are all somehow out of tune with the real world. It's a scenario that lends itself well to the music and even more to the parody. Enjoy!
I love this show! The comedy is witty and recurring. It has very good continuity and lots of very minute pieces of wit or themes that are hard to get at first. But if you like this kind of humor it sets in after a few episodes. It had great songs too. A few are cheesy or just outright dumb, but I'd say 98% of the songs are AMAZING, SMART AND FUNNY! The accents are great, and the manager/consulate is great too! BUY IT!
I sat down, turned this on and didnt get up until the last episode was over. It is my new favorite show. Its a new genre of comedy. it really is "non stop laughter" or whatever the critic says on the dvd case..AND the music is really good for those who appreciate it. Season one includes tons of hilarious cameos and guest stars. Bret and Jemaine are hilarious along with their amazingly skilled manager Murray. I cant wait to get season 2.. BUY THIS.
The item arrived quickly and without any damage at all. My boyfriend and I love watching "Flight of the Conchords" on HBO and I wanted him to have the songs and episodes to watch all the time. Bret and Jermaine are absolutely hilarious and are very talented folk singers. "Conchords" is a show that is much like British humor in that you will be rolling on the floor laughing or just won't get the point. I personally love the show and though season 2 is fantastic as well, season 1 is just classic.
This is one of the best shows on TV, but the DVD was just...okay. It has all the episodes and that's great, but it doesn't have ANY special features. So if someone DVRed the episodes of used TiVo, then don't bother buying the DVD unless you plan on watching it somewhere other than your TV.
Flight of the Conchords is a unique show, but that isn't always a good thing. In this case, as long as it tickles your personal sense of humor, you will adore Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. The show has a spice all its own, and you'll find yourself singing the ridiculous songs you hear throughout the season. I highly recommend this to anyone. I've made all my friends watch it, and they're instant fans.
The first Season of Flight of the Conchords is definitely worth owning. Only 2 full seasons were completed before the comedy duo announced that they would not be renewing their contract for a third. This wasn't due to poor ratings/feedback or even issues with the program itself, but rather because they didn't want to risk creating anything that wasn't up to par with the first 2 and they wanted to end on a high note. They have. Buy this. It's good
the comic duo of jemaine and bret is absolutely flawless. their funnies compliment each other so well that it's hard not to keep a smile plastered on your face the entire duration of the show. watch this once and you're sure to come back for more. watch this twice and you're sure to catch yourself walking down the street and singing their tunes.... or maybe that's just me... these two are definitely bumpable.
I started watching this and thought it was just a normal sitcom but it turns out that it's far from it. It's a show about two New Zealanders who are in an unsuccessful band who are trying to get "gigs". The thing is the band breaks out in to mini videos and they're really good. It's a lot like the Saturday night shorts (D*ck in a box, etc.). The point is, it's hilarious. A must see definitely.
