Synopsis
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER It's time for a black exit. Political activist and social media star Candace Owens addresses the many ways that Democrat Party policies hurt, rather than help, the African American community, and why she and many others are turning right. Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout , Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the black community's ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American Dream. Instead, Owens offers up a different ideology by issuing a challenge: It's time for a major black exodus. From dependency, from victimhood, from miseducation--and the Democrat Party, which perpetuates all three. Owens explains that government assistance is a double-edged sword, that the Left dismisses the faith so important to the black community, that Democrat permissiveness toward abortion disproportionately affects black babies, that the #MeToo movement hurts black men, and much more. Weaving in her personal story, which ushered her from a roach-infested low-income apartment to1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality. Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout lays bare the myth that all black people should vote Democrat--and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient., Political activist and social media star Candace Owens explains all the reasons how the Democratic Party policies hurt, rather than help, the African American community, and why she and many others are turning right. What do you have to lose? This question, posed by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump to potential black voters, was mocked and dismissed by the mainstream media. But for Candace Owens and many others, it was a wake-up call. A staunch Democrat for all of her life, she began to question the left's policies toward black Americans, and investigate the harm they inflict on the community. In Blackout , social media star and conservative commentator Owens addresses the many ways that liberal policies and ideals are actually harmful to African Americans and hinder their ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American Dream. Weaving in her personal story that brought her from the projects to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality. Owens argues that government assistance is a double-edged sword, that the left dismisses the faith so important to the black community, that Democratic permissiveness toward abortion disproportionately affects the black babies, that the #MeToo movement hurts black men, and much more. Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout lays bare the myth that all black people should vote Democrat--and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient.

If I could capture Mrs Owen's energy in a bottle and sell it to the world I'd be a trillionaire and we'd have world peace.

Candace Owen never fails to deliver. I love hearing her on her talk show, but to have a book with her energy and genius is a real treasure. I share a lot of Candace's story. I was once a Democrat and until the veil had been lifted, in 2018 for me, I was a crazy leftist myself. Now, even though I've lost countless friends, because apparently once you turn Republican you're an instant racist no matter how long someone's known you, been shouted at, luckily I'm 6'3" so l haven't been assaulted, but I know it could happen, I remain a much more proud Republican than I ever was a Democrat. I've only started the book so I don't want to speak to that, but I will give an update if I can once I finish it. Thanks Candace, my family and I appreciate everything you do. I introduced you to my mother, ...

    • Acmust read for anyone esp BLM. people

One of the best books ever. Her theme is no excuses. Quit being a baby and wanting free stuff. Educate yourself and make something of yourself. She is extremely well educated and did it herself and can take on anybody in a verbal debate with facts not whining.

    • Read the book to understand the title.

This book is an in-depth account of unpopular, non-woke truths within the black community and among the elite educators of our world. It exposes the rhetoric driven by media and academics that cloud common sense perceptions, and brand the thought process of questioning and thinking as racist and white supremacy. This is a thought provoking book.
