About this product

Product Information

When a Firefly Girl accuses the president of sexual misconduct in the Oval Office less than two weeks before the upcoming election, White House official Winifred Ames (Anne Heche) is told to bring in Conrad Bream (Robert De Niro) to fix the situation and save the president's chances for reelection. This mysterious "fixer" fabricates a conflict with Albania in an effort to detract attention from the sex scandal, bringing in legendary Hollywood producer Stanley Motss (Dustin Hoffman) to "produce" the war. When the CIA foils the initial plot, the creative team turns to a new story line, creating the saga of a U.S. soldier left behind enemy lines whom the president vows to find and return to American soil. Directed by Barry Levinson (DINER, RAIN MAN) and loosely based on Larry Beinhart's novel AMERICAN HERO, this merging of Hollywood and politics is both thought provoking and comical. The inspired casting of Hoffman as the self-absorbed producer and De Niro as the mysterious spin doctor is bolstered by a superb supporting cast that includes Denis Leary and Andrea Martin.

As advertised, prompt servicing and mailing of purchased item, secure packaging, modest postage, very satisfied, A++++++ Note: EBAY shows delivery on April 3rd. Actual delivery to my post office box was April 10. Sometimes dates are for dispatch from last regional center on delivery route which doesn't always occur same day posted. If so, movement and delivery took one week for 12 miles to destination Go figure!

Very pretty new in the box retro vintage boxed Christmas cards. As described. Great price and quality. The item was very carefully double packed. The item was first placed in a very thick bubble mailing envelope and then placed inside a very pretty and sturdy outer plastic mailing envelope. The shipping was very fast and the item arrived on schedule in perfect condition. The seller's communication was excellent. I highly recommend this seller! Thank You!

  • It Was a Hit When It Came Out, But....

I get the feeling that the movie and the scriptwere produced in a week. The best part is played by Woody Harrelson, a wacko convict who is released to help the two scoundrels. Otherwise, you can skip this movie unless you get it REALLY cheap and have time to kill.

  • Biting The Bullet Indeed

The title of the review is enough to give away what kind of commentary will be featured in this film. Then again, David Mamet did co-write the screenplay. And it features some underrated turns including from Willie Nelson, whose character performs an in-universe Dude, NOT Funny moment. This film features a producer hired to take America's attention away from the President's latest scandal. (Like that'll be hard to do nowadays.) Along the way, he will meet an outrageous cast of characters (Willie Nelson's character being one of them). But will he come out of this situation with his integrity and soul intact? Or will it become cynical and moralless like several of this movie's characters?
