Although the acting is mostly amateurish and the plot simplistic, this is still one of the earliest rock and roll films. A lot of local rockabilly and R&B groups that played all over Dallas in the 1950's and 60's that just can't be seen anywhere else are captured on film. Wrestling fans will enjoy seeing wrestlers from the era just before the Von Erich era in this city playing gangsters. The commentary track by then highly spirited teenager Kay Wheeler, who appears in the film, gives a great portrait of the era in which being a rock and roll rebel had severe social repercussions. She also reveals how a radio DJ's taunts led to her creating the largest Elvis Presley fan club in the world. A fun rare gem of a film.
