Worked perfectly right out of the box with old 3.5" HDD removed from failed computer. Helped salvage data from old computer without opening up new computer. Haven't tried it with a DVD yet but power adapter cable is included which should make it easy to connect. Very pleased.

DATA RECOVERED. Although the item arrived a little slow I was able to transfer data from an old Western Digital WD200 IDE hard disk drive to my Toshiba laptop. For some reason the converter didn't work with my Dell laptop (Win 11 Pro). But, so far data recovery is going well. Thanks 👍

    Exceptional Design and Quality

This is perfect. It has all the Drive Format Attachments, comes with a Wall Power Adapter, USB Cord, and the old IDE (four Molex pin) Hard Drive Power Adapter. It is much more advanced than the older type that comes with a separate 120 Volt Power Supply for powering the older IDE Drives. The Wall Power Adapter plugs into the device. Perfect, so much cleaner than the old style. Exceptional quality; this is strong enough to be permanently attached and used. It's hard to impress me but this product did just that.

Be certain the software side of things is in order

The product is as advertised, good quality and easy to use. In my case, the desired outcome wasn't achieved because I don't posess the tech skills required to get my hard disk drive talking to my laptop...UGH!

  • Great drive connection add on

This really is a swiss army knife. It connects to every drive I own, old and new, large and small and is an excellent way to make use of old "C" drives for backups or watching movies. I highly recommend it.

  • Compact and easy to use

I purchased this unit to access all the old laptop hard drives I had removed over the years (5). All my drives ranged from 160g to 320g drives and the converter was able to read all my drives. I was able to transfer all the files I wanted to offload from the drives, reformatted them and now they are ready to be used as storage drives. Sure you don't get an enclosure but why hassle purchasing (in my case) 5 different enclosures? Since I have both IDE and SATA drives, I have an IDE drive attached to the IDE portion and the SATA to the SATA connector. The nice thing about the converter is that it allows you to use both drives while connected. I didn't have a 3.5" drive available so I didn't get a chance to see if the converter was able to read all 3 drives at the same time. I would ...

  • PATA / SATA easy access solution

This solidly built — the connectors stay attached to the naked drives unlike some cheaper universal-connector devices I've owned. And it will indeed let you connect multiple drives and access them simultaneously, although may require the power brick being plugged in if it draws too much juice for the USB port. Done a fair amount of reading from & writing to via this connector and seldom had errors, also unlike some other similar devices.
