The splitter wedge is well shaped for splitting tough logs. The only fault I have noticed is with the splitter wedge base plate should be a neater fit in he guide track, as is, allows the splitter wedge to face off the line of travel. Maybe designed as is, to allow it to follow wood grain, but that is NOT a good idea, certainly is not when splitting longer logs!! In short, the splitter head needs to be held/kept directly in line.
