If you care enough to invest your hard earned dollars in quality knives, or bladed tools, then investing a relatively few dollars in the tools needed to maintain them is only common sense. This is not the tool best suited to achieving that mirror finished ultra sharp, scalpel type edge, you ideally seek, but for returning them to a very sharp, & hair shaving working edge, I don't know of anything better. It's also small, compact, and almost indestructible. You can finish them and do any major restorative work back home, but to quickly and easily resharpen your blades, from pen knives to broad axes this ink pen sized tool is time tested and in my opinion, unbeatable. It really does leave a sharp edge.
I have used every means, methods, and different types of sharpening devices: from wet stone to Professional Grade electric Kitchen Aid (over $200), this is the most effective, easy to use, and inexpensive sharpeners I have ever owned.....I am 71 years old and have worked as a chief. My mentor once told me the most dangerous thing in a kitchen was a dull knife. I ordered a second one just to have....you know: zombies, apocalypse , you never know.I have used every means, methods, and different types of sharpening devices: from wet stone to Professional Grade electric Kitchen Aid (over $200), this is the most effective, easy to use, and inexpensive sharpeners I have ever owned.....I am 71 years old and have worked as a chief. Very Handy & Easy To Use Blade Sharpener
I've owned several Ezy-Laps over last 15+ years & always found them outstanding for Quick tuneup on all blades. Unlike stones, they do not break if dropped or carried in hip pocket. BUT; Take a little care not to "hack" into the coating,creating notches which will catch the blade. Was surprised that instruction sheet was NOT included with purchased item, as they were, with all others that I've had in the past ?? Make a great gift.
This is really nice. easy to use and put away. For long life use some oil and light pressure, the diamonds cut fast. Finish is about 400 grit but gets finer with wear. For smother edge finish with a fine natural stone. This is also good for dressing an edge that's too smooth, like as with a sharpening steel. Give more bite for cutting meat and tomatoes.

The best Pro I can give this quick knife sharpener is that it is just that "quick", it's easy to use, works on ever kind of knife steel from soft to hardest and always puts on a good reliable edge that lasts.
