It is a light hearted slap stick comedy from "the day". I remember this as being one of the best Jerry Lewis Movies when I was a kid and it was good to see it again. These movies always have a real simple plot and are really for kids. I guess I'll always be a kid because I still enjoyed the totally different characters and the simple humor of the movie. If you remember this stuff as a kid, or if you want to share it with a family youngster---this is good clean fun!!!

I'd seen "Money From Home" on a late show when I was in junior high. I'd been a Jerry Lewis fan as a kid (Dean Martin sang through all the "boring parts" in my childish opinion) and wasn't disappointed by this, one of their final films as a team. (Lewis didn't even mention it in his biography "Dean and Me.") What caught my attention was the scene in which Lewis lip synchs as Dean sings along with a radio to "I Only Have Eyes For You." As the object of Dean's affection switches radio stations to thwart his unwanted wooing, Jerry does his best to keep up with every new spot on the dial -- running with arms and legs akimbo, impersontating Louis Armstrong, even contorting himself as a yoga instructor implores, "Doesn't that feel good?" "No," comes the meek reply. It was so physical, so silly, so ridiculous that a child couldn't help but fall in love with it and, therefore, the movie as well. Seeing it as an adult now, I still laugh at that scene, though it's more so from the memory of seeing it the first time. What catches my ear now are the vivid characters and pseudo-tough dialogue. The credits say the story was inspired by Damon Runyon. Martin/Lewis movies weren't supposed to have credentials that impressive! Sheldon Leonard, the quintessential comic tough guy, provides strong support as loan shark Jumbo Snyder. Lewis is as fearless a comic as ever -- striking out here, scoring homers there, but never backing away from the most miniscule opportunity for a laugh, cheap or not. And Dean? The epitome of cool, as always. Someone once said, "Frank Sinatra thought he was god. Dean Martin KNEW he was." In my opinion, this is the duo's most underrated film. It's definitely worth a look, if not a space on your DVD shelf. And yes, the kids will still love that lip synching scene.Read full review
