The Canadian one has different firmware so I had to connect the router to the satellite using a network cable and then go to the IP address assigned to the satellite, login to the ip address using admin and then manually update the firmware after downloading the latest firmware from the netgear website. All good now and working well.

I can strongly recommend this e-bayer. The issue I had is with the manufacturer, Netgear, whose online and app-specific instructions regarding incorporation of this item into my home network were inaccurate and nearly caused me to send it back. At no point did they mention that I should connect the Orbi satellite to the Orbi router using an ethernet cable, which turned out to be the key step!
