The best of old school bicycle gear train technology!
7-speed was the last of the successful freewheels and the first of the successful freehubs and this 7-speed cassette includes a 34T sprocket, actually a 12-34T which is the limit of what 8-speed cassettes had, 36T not coming until 9-speed. And with the use of a 4.5mm spacer a 7-speed cassette can go on a 8/9/10-speed freehub. 8-speed chain works fine on 7-speed chainrings and sprockets and works fine on 9-speed F&R derailleurs, but friction shifting would be necessary. Anyway, all of that gearing flexibility can seriously update an older bike.
