    Engrossing and entertaining

    George Gently lives up to his name - he is astute, observant and goes about solving the crimes/ mysteries gently and unassumingly. He has depth of character and there are hints of a wide life experience. I was interested to see that some of the first episodes dealt with social issues which would have been controversial int he early 1960's. Engrossing story lines and interesting to see George and his offsider develop as the series goes on.

    Great characters, extremely convincing...even masterful by the leading GG and JB. It has no hint of banal, formula acting which is to say, everything happens as it would in real life...unpredictable would be a good summery. The depth these two main characters, propels the the chase. The Director and the editor also, should take a bow...
