  • My Dad flew on some of the same missions and wanted our family to know.

    In 1991, my Dad gave our family this book. He wrote in the front of it: "This book was written by a bombardier in my squadron. It is so realistic I could have been the author. We flew on many of the same missions. In chapter one, the mission to Evreaux, it was the author's 18th mission; it was my 7th. I flew 30 missions total...Always remember - our freedoms are precious. Never take them for granted. Buffalo Grampa P.S. I prayed before every take-off & after every landing...and many times "in-between". I started reading the book many times since he gave it to us, but only completed it this past winter. How I wish I had done that while he was still alive. I am grateful for the time we met him at an Air Show and had a chance to go through a B-17 plane with him that was on display. And ...
