About this product

Product Information

From the director of the original GODZILLA comes FRANKENSTEIN VS BARAGON (or as it's also known in cult-movie circles, FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD). In 1945, a human heart in a Japanese lab is exposed to the intense radiation from the atomic bomb, causing the heart to grow into a full body. The result is a wild child, complete with the iconic flat-top head that earns him the name "Frankenstein." The boy grows to giant proportions, and he is invincible against attacks from the authorities. But when a giant reptile wreaks havoc, only Frankenstein can match him in a fight. This sci-fi film from 1965 blends Japanese monster movies with the tradition of Mary Shelley's classic character.

Brilliant! I had heard this was a good film, but I was greatly surprised that this was a GREAT film!

This is the first film in the TOHO Frankenstein two film series of the Frankenstein Monster in Japan. It's fantastic, better than I could have hoped for. Please get the full deluxe edition with the Japanese version, it will help you enjoy this wickedly wild tale! Bravo! ( the 2nd film is "War of the Gargantuans" - Brad Pit's favorite mounter movie )

  • great 60's Giant Monster movie

Ok - I know what your thinking "Frankenstein Conquers the World"?? well I bought this for my 11 year old son who is (even at his age) a devoted TOHO film fan (they're the one who created Godzilla) - This is one of their top 5 craziest idea's - Basically right a before the end of world war II the German's send "Frankenstein's" heart to Japan for experimentation along the way it is lost in the Jungle later to be found by a wild boy who eats it. the Heart has been irradiated and the "wild Child" begins to grow (and eat everything in site) great support for Nick Adams (who was also in "monster from Planet x" and the American 50's TV Johnny Yuma) - After the mutated wild child evolves into the oversized Giant Frankenstein - He runs a muck through the Japanese Country side only to run into the ...

  • One of my #1 favorite films, gr8 dvd.

Okay, this is a forgotten film, but should not have been. Frankenstein Conquers the World (aka Frankenstein vs. Baragon) is what you get when you mix Frankenstein (or his monster at least) into a semi-King Kong story. You know, people arguing over whether or not he should be kept alive, the beauty that calms the beast, (or at least thinks she can) but it's also different because Frankenstein is virtually incapable of dying, and conversely to Kong, starts human-ish, even makes semi-human noises, then turns to uncontrollable monster, complete with monster-like noises. Simply put, this is a film that brings both the people who cried at Kong's death and the people who said, "Kong was just an animal, why cry?" together. Also features two of the best kaiju battle scenes ever! ...

  • Great addition to both the Frankenstein/Godzilla type Movies!

What a great blending of both the Universal Mary Shelly type monster and the Terrific work done by Inoshera Honda's Godzilla Group. Most people don't know that this is even where the Gargantua's came from? Even Baragon fighting Frankenstein what a cool concept. Cool movie when I was a kid, and even cooler as an adult. I really appreciate Godzilla type movies. I remember "Monster Week' when I was a little boy growing up in Detroit, and the whole school would run home to catch Godzilla movies! Guess I never grew out of that. Absolutely love this movie just like the rest. Thanks, Scott in Detroit "Monster Fan"! "Frankenstein Conquers the World" is funny, entertaining, and in my opinion is a classic!!!! They sure don't make em like this anymore...
