The Marklin model 3095 is a typical Marklin analog steam locomotive; well crafted, good looking with lots of detail. This class of locomotive has the plastic body rather than the metal body of the more expensive locomotives in the Marklin lineup. It does have the complex, authentic-looking driving rods that make it a pleasure to watch in action. It's a nice engine for younger modelers because it has fewer wheels to mount on the track. This same feature makes it more stable on the track and less likely to derail. Care must be taken however because the driving rods are easily bent if not handled with care. I purchased this locomotive specifically for parts as one of the driving rods on my engine had broken. New replacement parts are difficult to find and it was easier and more economical to purchase a used engine as a donor for the needed parts. This example of the engine was barely sufficient for that purpose. The description was "generous" and failed to mention the plethora of broken and missing parts. Either they were ignored or the seller was ignorant of the locomotive in its normal condition. This turned out okay for me because I hate to destroy one model to save another, but this one was so far gone that it caused me little distress to put it out of its misery. I recommend the Model 3095 locomotive and mine has proven to be durable, dependable and strong over the 30-plus years I've had it in operation. I doubt I'll purchase from this seller again; I've purchase quite a few used Marklin locomotives over the years and this was the worst example I've gotten so far. That doesn't alter my opinion of the model, just the seller.Read full review
