Its cheap, reliable, and get get your foot in the door for a budget gaming setup, or just light computing. This chip is NOT hyper threaded. It uses turbo boost like older chips in the i5 line up. "But does it work for gaming?" Yes, it works fine, however if you're running a modern graphics card, you're going to be severely bottlenecked these days. My pc back then had 10 gb of ram, an AMD r9 380 with turbo boost enabled on the cpu and a gpu boost on the motherboard. This is a good starter to beginner builders or light gamers saving up for something better down the road.
