About this product

Product Information

Everyone's favorite video game plumber now has his own RPG with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the Nintendo GameCube. This Paper Mario title looks similar to other titles in the series featuring two-dimensional characters on a three-dimensional background and crisper graphics. Because of his paper nature, Mario can roll up and go down a tube and turn sideways to go through cracks. He can also use his normal special abilities such as crushing bricks with his head. The combat in this game is traditional RPG turn-based and, by timing certain actions, Mario can dodge attacks by enemies and inflict more damage when needed.

Item as described. It arrived carefully packaged and I'm overall really happy with my purchase. The only thing that concerned me a little bit was that I asked the seller a question, which they avoided by telling me all I needed to know was in the description. Then, I was more specific with that question, but I never got a reply back... weird. However, the transaction and shipment went smoothly; it was the communication that was missing.

New as promised, unopened, yet it arrived cosmetically banged up a bit and maybe would not work as a gift. It was shipped in another box but it was tight fitting and in transit scrunched the original box. Shipping was pricey considering how long it took to arrive, likely a better rate could’ve been available. At first system said arrive by the 17th and it updated and took a few days extra to arrive. Seller was pretty good though would consider purchasing from them again.

An entertaining RPG for anyone who can read

Children and adults alike have cherished this game since its release, and for good reason. Much like how competitive Smash Bros players feel the games peaked with Melee, most all Paper Mario fans agree this was, sadly, the last great game in its series, despite three more installments coming after it. The combat is fun and engaging for a turn based game, holding even my younger, more impatient mind's full attention. The exploration and world building is even more genius, allowing paper Mario to take previously popular paper patterns, such as a paper boat or plane. The story is fun enough to engage a child, yet deep and treacherous enough to interest an adult, making it an excellent game for story, as well as gameplay

  • A wonderful game hampered by a stagnant and half hearted Nintendo.

Pros: One of the best games in the Paper Mario series. Cons: One of the most expensive games in the Paper Mario series. When it comes to gaming, Nintendo is a household word. The quality of its games are universally recognized as some of the finest achievements in gaming BAR NONE! But with that being said, the sad reality is beloved games like Paper Mario, the Thousand Year Door has not been posted over to more advanced systems like the Wii/Wii U/Switch. For this reason, unless you got deep pockets (150 USD and up) and ONLY for the 2004 GameCube system, then you are really out of luck, as this game is only for the GameCube. This bizarre tactic by Nintendo really irritates most gamers as it is not difficult to port this game over to the presently sold systems like Switch, and why Nintendo ...

  • Great game.

Exactly what I asked for, I had the game before, wonderful to have it again. Only issue I ran into is battle sequences would cause the disk to skip, on my gamecube it would then error out, but on another it'd simply loop a small portion of music again with no problem. Possibly something that could be fixed with a disc cleaner. Either way I played it all the way through and almost completed everything but enough to know the disk was in good enough shape to play again if I so choose.

  • A New Adventure Unfolds!

Never played this game but did hear the good praise it has. So I bought it out of curiosity and it was amazing. The controls are great, the combat is satisfying to pull off, and the characters are filled with personality. The story is very good which makes it compelling for me to keep going. This is now considered to be one of my favorite Mario RPG games I’ve ever played!

  • Great, but slightly glitchy in some areas

One of my favorite games growing up! I played through the whole thing to make sure the disc worked well. The disc was slightly scratched and the game glitched in a few areas, which was a little frustrating. But to be honest, it could have just as easily been glitching from my old GameCube controller (but I haven’t had issues with it playing other games). That’s why I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Overall worth it though!
