When I was quite young I was fortunate enough to see Robert Preston in the original NY production. If you like musicals, you will fall in love with the score by Sandrich and Michaels. I haven't played the LP for (literally) decades, but bits of the score come back to me at unexpected moments. My only complaint is that some of the score is difficult to hear on the cd. I hope someday they will re-master it to capture all the fun of the show, which also, by the way, had some very clever staging (for the 1960s). In spite of my quibble about the sound, I wholeheartedly recommend the cd version of BFiP. You will find yourself humming (how many shows can we say that about nowadays?) "I Invented Myself," "Half the Battle," "To Be Alone with You," "Look for Small Pleasures," "I Love the Ladies," among others. Guaranteed! The show's book may have to be updated a bit, but I would enjoyed seeing a revival of this (sadly) overlooked musical.Read full review
