9 TO 5 is the much-loved revenge comedy about three female office workers (the terrific trio of Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dolly Parton) in a giant corporation who are subjected to the indignity of a chauvinist boss (played marvelously by Dabney Coleman). They entertain wild fantasies to get even through a series of outrageous incidents. When the film first came to theaters in 1980, it was a huge hit not just because of the quality of the film but because of the subject matter of women being treated fairly in the workplace. Dolly Parton's theme song was nominated for an Academy Award.

    A pre 'woke' comedy about female empowerment.

    9 to 5 is a film that shows how women were treated in offices back in the 1980s, and is a film that would never be made now, sadly. It focuses on 3 women dealing with their boss, the worst kind of man, and how they beat him in the end, and improve their lives. It is also a totally hilarious comedy. We see the 3 women's fantasies about what they would like to do to their boss. Later, they think that one of them has accidentally killed him. This leads to a film that never devolves into slapstick but perfectly hits it's comedy targets. It has some sexual themes, and profanity, but nothing that would shock granny. If you remember this film and want to relive a great comedy, I highly recommend it. If you've never seen it and like a good laugh, it's worth a look.
