MB42X...the X is key
I did much research pre-purchase, the 42X model was reportedly the best value and sound in an economy bookshelf speaker. They don't disappoint! The sound is large and comprehensive, no small production detail is missed. I primarily use it for vinyl. Some reviews mention that you might want to rethink the 42X if you live in apartment or condo, and they are right. I have a condo, and when I first fired these up I was concerned. I have a decent Technics amp, however, and was able to adjust the EQ to accommodate. In terms of esthetics, they are very well designed. Solid, attractive, and the cover is magnetized and easy to remove and replace. There is also a more basic 42 model, which is not as favourably reviewed.
