Freehand is a historical look at Rock and Roll's first 'modest mouse'...Stanley Mouse. There is not one person who can pick up this book and not recognize some of Stanley's art or his influence on modern Rock art. This book packs decades of Rock history in 123 pages of full color, psychedelic and fine art prints by Grammy award winning Stanley Mouse with collaborations from the late, great Alton Kelley. This book is a must have for music and art lovers. Stanley has worked with legendary acts such as the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Miller, Journey and countless others. Stanley continues to make his mark today, recently being inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and breaking the pretentious mold for a small winery in Washington state called 'Walla Walla Village Winery'.Read full review
For pop art and rock fans this book is the best addition you could make to your library. It is a book of pictures and descriptions of posters and playbills created by Stanley Mouse over the course of some twenty years. There are also other pieces of his more comical art represented. For a Journey fan like me, the cover says it all. For Deadheads, this book is brimming with art too. I would rate it as a must have for fans of the Grateful Dead. The book also includes work done for Steppenwolf and Steve Miller. All in all, this book is a beautiful collection of pop art that is a window on rock and roll in the seventies and eighties.
Mouse is one of my favorite artists of that genre, and this book was everything I had hoped for. He is the reason I collect artists instead of performers. Having his autograph is an honor, and I consider priceless. I'm thrilled to own this, as I'll enjoy this for the rest of my life!
This is a awesome book for all those that are lovers of Stanleys art. a Must have for all art lovers.
