Each of the Madeleine Peyroux releases I have purchased have been so enjoyable. I was exposed to her music by Radio Paradise. Radio Paradise is another extremely enjoyable experience for another review. To me, Madeleine has that great smokey jazz, low key feel that has it's own pocket over the many years going back to like the 1930's & 40's. But Madeleine is today's music, special on it's own and very advanced. Check it out, you'll like it.

The songs on this CD are glorious and each one has its own story. "Dance Me To The End Of Love" is a love song wriiten by Leonard Cohen. Great words and music. `You're Gonna Make me Lonesome When You Go," written by Bob Dylan and, much to my suprise, Madeleine make the song fully her own. "Don't Cry Baby and "Careless Love' were both recorded by Bessie Smith and surge with the languid energy of New Orleans. "No More" sung originally by Billie Holiday, seethes with the ambience of doomed love. "Between the Bars" is a tribute to Elliott Smith and his remarkable songs and tragic life. "Don't Wait Too Long" is an original song with Jesse Harris. Jesse Harris helped Norah Jones with her first successful album. "J'ai Deux Amours" is done in the style of Josephine Baker - this is wonderful. . "Weary Blues" sung originally by Hank Williams has an earthy country Blues flavor. "I'll Look Around" is yet another soothing Billie Holiday piece. "Lonesome Road" has a gospel/folk/blues feel. "Careless Love" says it all... "This Is Heaven To Me" is the perfect capstone to this album. This is track they should play on the radio.Read full review
She is coming to town, so I thought I'd get one of her CD's to see if I liked her music. It turns out that I do, quite a lot. This CD is a very polished professional package. She sings classic 30's-40's style bluesy jazz about longing and love without either optimism or disillusion. The backups are not intrusive--they get out of her way and let her work her magic. She has a torchy vocal style that makes me think of Billie Holiday. Her voice is good strong and clear, very easy to listen to. She has a good feel for the material. She grabs the emotion of the poet and delivers it to the listener in an affecting and accessible form. She does a great job. I'm looking forwad to her concert. Seaforth Music
I heard the song Dance Me To the End of Love on Pandora radio and fell in love with it. My husband loves this soulful, rich voiced type of female vocalist bluesy jazz as well, so I bought the cd for us. I love all her songs, she sounds a lot like Billie Holiday but has her own sound as well. I also bought her CD Half the Perfect World, which so far sounds a bit more countryish. But Careless Love is an EXCELLENT cd, and Madeleine peyroux is a very talented musician/vocalist.
This artist performed in Milwaukee, WI. I read a review of her performance, in the Sunday newspaper, which was highly rated. I had not heard of her before reading the article, but after such a rave review, I wanted to hear her perform. I could not fine her CD in any store, so I turned to EBAY for help. Sure enough I found her CD, purchased it, and was very satified with my purchase. Her voice and musical style remind me of the fabulous Billy Holiday. Madeleine Peyroux is an excellent vocal artist. Enjoy this CD and delighted to have found it on EBAY. Thank you EBAY for providing the opportunity to enjoy a talented vocalist at a very reasonable price.
