About this product

Product Information

Straight out of the arcades and into your living room! Q*bert for your 2600 plays just like its arcade predecessor.

As Q*bert, you enjoy hopping up and down cubical pyramids in a magical world. When Q*bert hops on a cube it changes color. Change all the cubes of a pyramid and you win that round.

Standing in the way of your objective are Red Balls who will squash you flat, Coily the coiled snake who will hop around the board to get you, and Sam, who poses no direct threat, but foils your progress by turning cubes back to their original color.

Sam can be stopped by running into him, but the Red Balls and Coily must be avoided. Fortunately, Coily can be tricked into leaping off they pyramid. On each round several multi-colored disks hover just off the pyramid. Q*Bert can jump onto a disk and float back to the top. If Coily is in close pursuit, he will jump to his death.

In later levels, Q*bert must deal with intermediate colors, requiring multiple jumps on the blocks to reach the destination colors, as well as blocks that are susceptible to changing back to their original color when jumped on after having reached their destination color.

There are five levels total with four rounds in each level.

Players start with four Q*berts. You earn one extra Q*bert after the first five rounds and one extra Q*bert for every four rounds after that.

Who doesn't remember Q-bert? The game is one of my all time favorites. Again simpler times, much more laid back!

  • It's alright

From the arcade to Atari 2600 it suffers greatly on maintaining the Q-bert brand, but it fun if you are just a huge fan of Q-bert.
