    Practical, High Quality, But Quirky

I have a hobby of purchasing and testing out mechanical pencils. I have used this the Orenz Nero 0.3mm for a week and a half at this point. After thorough examination here's the deal: The pencil does everything you expect it to do perfectly. Now it's time for the nitpicking. Micro-small "issues" -slightly visible seams -difficult to remove eraser -black coat can be slightly scratched with pressure from fingernails (unlike Rotring 600/800) -slight tip wobble(only noticeable if you examine the tip) -Contact between lead sleeve and paper is noticeable but not scratchy -Tip does not retract fully -Eraser cap will advance the lead when it is re-inserted -Slight noise when shook due to internals -Graphite can be advanced by weak pressure on the cap before actual "click" That being said, this ...

  • What makes this better than other mechanical pencils in its price range?

What makes this better than other mechanical pencils in its price range? I can list a few things after using it. 1. It's well balanced, sitting comfortably past the half way point. And the grip area is very large, to accommodate various ways of holding the pencil. 2. They come in 0.2mm and 0.3mm, which means you don't need to rotate the pencil to maintain a consistent line width. 3. They advance the lead tip automatically as you write and draw, which is perfect for 0.2mm which wears down quickly. 4. The sliding sleeve prevents such a fine tip from breaking. I have yet to break my point. 5. The sliding sleeve is beveled, which gives me a smooth writing experience from any angle. 6. It looks like the mechanical pencil of the future. 7. It feels durable, despite the body being partially made ...

  • Expensive, but worth it. Auto Advance works!

Solid body, very nice pencil. It can be scratchy but just rotate the pencil so that you're writing with the lead that is exposed.

  • Sturdy build and value for money

sturdy metal part, light weight and well balanced, continuous writing with ease.

  • One of my go-to 0.3mm pencils.

The mechanism works very well, and actually does not produce an uncomfortable amount of friction. It's very nice to write with in general, especially since you don't have to press the mechanism constantly as you do with conventional 0.3mm pencils. I like how light the pencil is, it only weighs a bit more than my rOtring 500. The only downside is that the auto-advance doesn't work very well if you have paper underneath the sheet you're writing on, there's too much squish.
