Great product at this price point!
My son has significant environmental allergies, primarily being dust, grass, weeds, trees, and now...cat dander. Fun times. We live in a rural community with literally 1 house between us and a field of cows, so dust...we have a plethora of and with 3 indoor, declawed cats, we're in a quandry. We can't afford to move, don't plan on finding the 3 felines new homes, and asking a 13 y/o NOT to touch grass, weeds, or trees is just about as stupid as saying "please don't breathe!" So, improving our home's air quality by decreasing allergens is the best we can shoot for, and thus I bought two of these Veva 8000s to start with. I placed one Veva 8000 in his bedroom (door stays closed except for entering & exiting) and one for our living room (open to kitchen/hall/etc). Those are the two places he spends the most time and I didn't want to purchase one for every room just yet! These units are doing a pretty good job at pulling dust out of the air as it's trapped in the black carbon "pre-filter" and can be easily seen. As for the pet dander...dunno for sure. It's not like you can look at the HEPA and say "oh, I see them, there are the purple cat dander specks" so only time will tell if his allergy symptoms decline and asthma improves after we've utilized these awhile. I selected these units because the initial cost of the Veva 8000 was "reasonable" in that it is supposed to cover a fairly large amount of square footage for a relatively marginal cost. There were some available cheaper, but their ratings and performance were lower as well. I also liked that replacement carbon & HEPA filters would not force me to take out a second mortgage. I've now had these units operating for about 5-6 weeks. It may not be recommended, but I took the carbon pre-filters to our garage & blew them out with the air compressor on a weekly basis, not sure if it helped, but it made me feel better that the filters appeared like they could grab more dust if they weren't already filled to the brim! After 4 weeks, I replaced the carbon pre-filter with a new one. The HEPA filters still look as clean as the day I got them. I think they were a solid purchase, now I'm just hopeful that they last awhile!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
