WINDJAMMER was the first and last feature-length film lensed in the widescreen Cinemiracle process (a three projector sytem similar to Cinerama).This is the filmed record of the 18,000-mile shakedown cruise of the Christian Radich, a square-rigger (or "windjammer"). The vessel's ports of call include Oslo, the West Indies and New York. The real-life sailors are called upon to play "roles" in the course of the film, though it must be admitted that they're better seamen than actors.

Beautiful Ship
I saw this in the theatre as a young boy that loved sailing ships. I am sixty one now and I still love sailing ships. this is a top of the mark 1950's travelogue. to many it will come of as very hokey but the ship is the star. I expect to go along on one of their trips next year or the year after. The screen format changes a couple of times which is a little odd but all in all I liked the DVD.

I went to see this movie when I was 9. Moved me to do 2 things in my life: join the navy and learn to sail. Big steps for someone growing up in Oklahoma! I've been looking for this to come out for years, excellent movie but more of a documentary.
