    Good model of rare subject, but it has room for improvement.

    Overall this is a pretty good kit of an unusual and rare subject. The only surviving Maus (only 2 chassis were built) is in a museum in Russia and the kit includes an 8 page glossy pamphlet with pictures of the real thing--this is a nice touch. The instructions are good as our the color --hypothetical--paint schemes. Fit and finish of the parts is good. Some criticisms on a model tank like this, trumpeter should adopt the individual track shoe methodology use on the recent 1/35 scale academy Tiger 1 Kits -- the track shows while realistic involved more tiny parts than may have been necessary. Same is true of the tank's suspension system and road wheels--too many small parts. In a high quality, high dollar kit like this, why not include painting masks for key parts like road wheels, ...
