"Paladin's Quest" is a classic role-playing game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. Published by Enix, this single-player game immerses players in a storyline where they control the protagonist on a quest to protect the land from evil forces. With its engaging gameplay and nostalgic appeal, this game is a must-have for RPG enthusiasts looking to experience a retro gaming experience on the SNES platform.
No actual Paladins here, but quite a Quest nonetheless
This game does not get a whole lotta love, but it is definitely worth at least one playthrough. Most of the game is text based, and though the battle system seems arduous it goes very fast when your left thumb is well-defined, as you really need only the d-Pad.
This game is colorful, in a literal sense, has a few good characters and a few good moments. Getting towards the end of the game, some pretty nifty things start to happen that are unexpected. Some imagination went into this game, and even though it is a Super Nintendo game, it is more like a very well made NES role player you play on SNES rather than a bad SNES game.
The music is very good in most parts, but like any RPG the battle music can be a bit tiring, requiring a break. Having a manual and chart for this is a must. A common criticism is that there is no MP, and that spells require your HP, but there are many ways to replenish HP and potion is very affordable. The first half of the game you will run into money troubles a couple times, but by the end you are swimming in the stuff and cannot get rid of it.
If you ever wanted to go through a dungeon of a dragon's gi tract, this is the game for you. The music is great and the pace relentless, as you are constantly going through different locals and mercenaries to round out your party.
