Packed with the unmistakable art of Abbott and Costello's slapstick, in this plot-heavy farce the two comics play window washers, Ted Higgins and Homer Hinchcliffe. The film opens with the two fumbling on a ledge only recovering in time to be mistaken for messengers and ordered to deliver $50,000 in cash to a gangster. When they accidentally send it to a woman who spends the loot they then only have thirty-six hours to come up with the money. Some memorable routines include the "on and off" pants bit and the "you can't be here" repartee. The disparaging crime syndicate adds dramatic pressure and is after them until the end. Charles Barton directs with perfect pace, and the result is a great display of the team's talents.

One of Abbott & Costello's non-Universal Films best!
I am collecting all of Abbott & Costello's movies, and "The Noose Hangs High" was one of three I didn't have. It is classic Abbott & Costello! Great story, hilarious random comedy and dialogue, especially from Lou Costello, who is a master at comic timing. Every once in a while he will "break" the forth wall and look directly at the camera with a quick snappy bit of dialogue or sometimes just a knowing "look". Letting you know that HE knows your watching and thinking the same thing he is! Very original. I love Abbott & Costello, and the movie collection of theirs that I'm building is one of my most valued cinema treasures!

This is one of a few Abbot and Costello movies that isn't available on DVD. I am so happy to get this, watched it the other day and it was really, really good. I didn't remember that is was such a good movie.
