There's definitely a learning curve in using a thread mic. I spent lots of time on Youtube to understand the calibration and use of the mic. Spent some time practicing with it over the alternative thread wires. Each have there advantage but glad I got this mic. Very nice fit and finish. Paired with the Shars mic stand, they make a great pair!

  • Great micrometer for a good value.

Makes wires a thing of the past. Reads easily. Very smooth operating. take a pair of tweezers andremove the plugs so the anvils sit deeper in the holes. The only con: is that the 0, 25,50, 75 line shows before we are at the zero point. This should not show , but it doesn't diminish the use. A micrometer user will know that the reading is coming up and not there yet. Saves lots of time over wires.

  • Does not read consistent measurements

Will not even read consistent measurements to the nearest thou, not to mention the nearest tenth. Very cheap Chinese thread micrometer.

  • Still works but has gone down in quality.

This is the second one of these I have purchased. I have 2 areas I use it in. The first was better quality, the box it is stored in doesn’t have fitted holes for the different anvils like my first one has.

  • Another great tool from Shars

Many thread micrometers have you buy the anvils separately. Not only do they come with this only, the whole unit is cheaper than others extra anvils. Works great, so much better than 3-wires. Very repeatable.

  • Worthy tool

Accurate and well made. Used to make a one time nut for a large hundred plus year old tower clock pendulum. I didn't have to dismantle the clock to measure the thread depth, came out perfectly. Made a screw and then a nut fit to it. Would have been a real chore with the three wire method. Highly recommended.
