To start with, the irons are good-looking. Topline is not fat and clumsy as are many sets purporting to be game-improving. The lightweight steel shafts are right for me at R flex and standard length (37.75" 5-iron). I purchased the M-21 grips and built them up with 2 layers of tape and a little extra in the right hand. Upon taking them to the range the first time to compare with my old set, TA 845m muscle backs, I immediately noticed how much cleaner the Mizunos cut through the turf---they did not dig! This is especially helpful on my home courses that have mostly thin turf caused by last summer's drought. In fact, the soles are just a little deeper and have two angles, similar to, but less pronounced than, the Eidolon wedges. They are all that I could ask for...good looks and good performance.Read full review
Found this set being offered at less than $700; they are in graphite w/ GP Decade grips, 4 of the 8 irons had not been demo'd. New Mizunos w/graphite shafts price out about $1100, so it's a no brainer... These irons have a smaller head, thinner top line & less offset; what a combo they are a teriffic set of irons; distance & direction is great & no turf drag... Had tried the Callaway X-25 Hot irons; no comparison, these Mizunos are head/shoulders above them... If you can play a little and don't want to hit a shovel, the Mx-300s' are well worth a look... Bottom line very satisfied; one of the best irons our here...
These clubs are very workable on the course yet forgiving enough for a mid-handicapper such as myself. I also have a set of Mizuno JPX-800 which are great clubs too and may hit a tad further but the MX-300s are just better clubs when managing the course...IMO anyway. I seem to swing easier and have more balance and better rhythm when I play them. I think the lighter steel shafts work better with this club. I use the True Temper GS95 with my MX-300s.....perfect for me.
I have played Mizunos for years. I am a single digit handicap. Anything less than Mizuno is a sacrifice. I needed to go away from the strictly muscle backs, and found a set of mx 300's with a Mizuno exar tour spec shaft in regular. This shaft plays more in between a stiff and a regular. These will look and play a lot like the newer jpx 825 pro. Great feel very strong distance. If you get a chance jump on these . You won't be disappointed.
Quite a bit heavier than my old MX 20's but that is because of the Dynamic Gold shaft compared to the Dynalite Gold shafts I have in my Mx 20's. As a result I hit a more boring, penetrating flight which I guess is more of what I was looking for. Very easy to work the ball and extremely accurate. Strong wedge so I have to find a gap wedge. Luv them and great seller.
