A fair amount of confusion about this function and not much coming from T-Rex on it; nor is there good documentation or information regarding the Midi capabilities of this pedal but I've gotten both to work consistently. Subdivisions ONLY works in Tap Tempo mode and once set, any changing of the repeat rate (delay) pops out of Subdivision mode despite the setting of the button. As well, Subdivisions will only take effect AFTER a) depressing the button and then b) tapping a new delay rate. In essence, this (and dotted 1/8th notes or 'triplet' functions on other pedals) do nothing but decrease the delay parameter by a factor so it makes perfect sense that it should only work with Tap. If yours is not working properly, chances are you are not following this simple procedure to the letter... OR you pedal is physically broken. With regard to the Midi capability, there is a misconception that this function (not necessarily useful to strict guitar players) works in conjunction with Midi Clock/time; which it does not. Rather, it provides two capabilities via Midi CC's. CC's are essentially command channels for controlling device specific/implementation specific parameters. In other words, T-Rex opted for #20 and #21 (another vendor might use these command #'s for other functions). And in T-Rex's case, the on/off is a toggle (values 0 and 127 respectively), while the rate is equivalent to the tap function (each tap MUST equal the cc command # followed by a single message and the value is not important). I've used this alongside a Moog MP-201 MultiPedal configured to allow on/off and tapping for tempo remotely (whilst the pedal sits safely on a shelf in my rack). Again, not much value to guitar players but I found best use of this pedal (due to it's generous 1.5 sec delay) with my Moog synths. Plenty written about the sound and build quality of this pedal so I won't bother going into it but I at least wanted to discuss these very much misunderstood features.Read full review
This is the best delay pedal I've used...period. I basically have in on all the time. Mine is the newer version with toggles on top instead of the push buttons, and a line level control knob on the side which you can recess back into the pedal... love the toggles, but it took a while to get the level knob adjusted correctly. It's a cool feature though and worth the time to master. My favorite setting is Echo, repeat, and tempo all set to about 11 o'clock and the level set to 3 0'clock... just leave it on and play. Of course it can be used for more dramatic delay effects also that sound out of this world fantastic. The subdivision button works great but you have to have your tempo and other controls set jsut right to take advantage of it... others have suggested it might not have been working but my suspicion is that they didn't have the controls set properly. Anyhow, it's worth the $$$... find a used one or score on from auction and it's a justifiable amount to spend on an awesome delay pedal. Once you hear it you'll understand why pros use this pedal... it's awesome!Read full review
I purchased a slightly used Replica from the seller and it sounded great. BUT, the SUBDIVISION Switch didn't work. I sent it back for a refund and the seller confirmed it didn't work. I then bought a new one from Musicians Friend. Again, the SUBDIVISION Switch didn't work and I just sent it back for an exchange. When reading through the reviews on the MF Website, there was a fellow who also bought 2 new units where it didn't function. He was duly upset, as I am now becoming. Please don't comment that I don't know how to use it. Not only did I follow the directions to the 'T' for quite some time, but I pulled up on-line videos showing how it works and did the exact same thing with both units - they simply didn't work. So in summation, this seems to be a common recurring problem with these units. Which leads me to believe that they're not "all that". Also, there are probably users who learn to live without it.Read full review
This is to me the perfect pedal. It's quiet, sounds very natural, simple to use and does exactly what it is supposed to do-nothing less & nothing more. I leave it on almost always, with the "brown" selector switch ingaged. This feature is in essence a diminished, slightly darkened decay. This to me sounds very realistic.
If you're looking for a great sounding delay, this is the one you want. You can never go wrong with anything from T-Rex!
