Designed for fast slap-it-together build. Windows are decal only with window depressions on the inside of the fuselage. You can drill and file them out, but then you don't have any clear window parts to fill the empty holes. Was looking to build an Air Force Two VC-9C by chopping and splicing together two of these in order to get the correct length, but due to the windowless design, I am abandoning that project. I suppose it would make an adequate model for a novice modeler that just wants to build the kit as-is.

Very basic and very few pieces. I purchased this model only for nostalgia reasons . I would be a great starter kit for 7 and 8 yr. olds. It would also be nice if stand came with the kit.

I was excited about finding this reissued kit for a Howard Hughes diorama....HOWEVER, the decals for the Hughes Air West version are TOTALLY the wrong color...they are NOT and never were purple....they were always a rich royal blue. There are some other older kits on ebay which show that fact on the original Aurora box. I brought this up to Atlantis and they basically blew it off as :"that was the original color from Aurora"...not true! For the price of the kit, they should have done their homework! The history of the color change for the real airliners is well documented and Atlantis should make the fix! I hand over-painted mine to match history of both the real plane and Aurora's ORIGINAL kit decals....see pics of my hand re-painted decals. My camera does not represent the brightness of the yellow used, but it is VERY bright and matches the real plane.Read full review

A simple model to build, but a good resemblance of the real thing. The kit is rather dated, but given its uniqueness, it still goes well in any model airliner collection.

Great quality model and re-release of the original Aurora kit. Its a super simple build that goes together quickly. The details are good but simple. Don't expect super details as you would get with a Doyusha or Hasagawa kit, but its just enough and a super value! Most important is the parts fit together well into a nice, big DC-9! I built mine with the TWA markings cause, well.... I hate yellow! :)
