I bought this product because it was advertised in another DVD I bought (and liked very, very much) called "A touch of spice". There is nothing I dislike about this movie. Perhaps fi I was to be extremely difficult I would say that like all mexican drama movies just about everybody dies.
"Like water for chocolate" represents the best of Spanish language film. It is an off-the-wall viewing experience which is by turns comic and deadly serious. It keeps one guessing constantly what on earth will happen next, and seldom getting the right answer. The nude elopement scene is particularly hilarious. If subtitles are usually a put off, try to overcome your prejudice for the sake of a really fun experience.
Such a beautiful movie... excellent acting, directing and the story line is original. Ideal to learn Spanish with or to practise aural understanding. Never better said "food for thought" for the romantic heart.
This is one of my favourite films of all time - I don't remember how I saw it the first time but I was gripped by the beauty and "magical reality" and had to buy it on DVD as well as the book! The story is of love and longing in a small setting, the agony of being in love but not being able to be with that person yet seeing them with someone else. The story suggests that people's feelings are transferred into the food they cook, and this effects others. When the story ends, you are both happy and yet this is bound to bring you to tears because it's not what you expect!
So soft and gentle. I just loved every moment of this film, Captivating, enchanting, original, and great for learning spanish. I have watched it several times since, and every time it just grips you all over again. That is really telling something. It has my total support, you wont regret the money spent on this film, just simply wonderful....
